Thank You for All Your Hard Work on ENDA
The non-inclusive version of ENDA (HR 3685) was passed by Congress Wednesday, November 7th. Read our
statement on this bill's passage & our continuing commitment to achieving employment protections based on gender identity. Also see ERW's statement on the original filing of non-inclusive ENDA.
Know Your Legal Options
Elizabeth Hershman-Greven of McKinley-Irvin has prepared a primer on Washington Law for LGBT persons. This helpful resource contains basic information on topics ranging from health care, to adoption, to domestic partnerships. Thanks to their generosity, we're able to make it available to you:
What are your rights under Washington State's anti-discrimination law now that it covers sexual orientation and gender identity? How are you protected? What should you do if you think you've been the victim of discrimination? Get the facts from Lambda Legal and ERW:
Please read these and share them! Everyone should understand their rights under the law.
Domestic Partner Registration
The Domestic Partnership registration forms and information are now available here on the Secretary of State's website. ERW and its allies have also authored an informational brochure about
the new domestic partner law entitled "The Legal Rights of Domestic Partners in Washington State". This brochure gives helpful information to better understand the new law. To download the brochure please go here.
Transgender Rights & Marriage
We've received many questions about the rights of transgender people to marry in the state of Washington. Unfortunately, it's not a simple issue! We'd like to thank The Northwest Women's Law Center for providing this briefing paper on the subject. It is not legal advice, but we hope it can serve to answer some of your questions.
